With the blessings of Late Yashvantraoji Chavan and established by Government of Maharashtra, to provide the technical education in rural area, Government College of Pharmacy is located on a beautiful sprawling campus of an eight acres near the bank of Krishna-Koyana river at Karad. Being the first Government Institution in Maharashtra, it has always experienced a distinguished identity among the other colleges. Affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur, the college is approved by All India Council for Technical Education New Delhi, Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi and Directorate of Technical Education, Maharshtra State, Mumbai. Right from the inception with the establishment of tiny department in the Government College of Engineering, Karad in 1964 to offer diploma course in Pharmacy, the college transformed into the post graduate research institute in pharmacy in 1995 with an independent existence.
I take this opportunity to communicate with you all a short message through
this page, about our institution. Govt. College of Pharmacy, Karad saw the light of the day in the year
1964 under the blessings of Late Honorable Shri. Yashwantraoji Chavan, with the start of Diploma course
in Pharmacy as a department of Govt. Polytechnic, Karad. Next year in 1965, Bachelor course in Pharmacy
was introduced as a department of Govt. College of Engineering, Karad.Year 1974, both these courses where
merged into a single institution, i.e. Government College of Pharmacy, Karad.
The present building and campus were completed and started in the working capacity from 1996.
